CONNECTING FARMERS
TO CONSUMERS

WHO WE ARE

Mulukakao is a family company of Nicaraguan and North American origin. Our name comes from the town in Nicaragua where our family farm is located: Mulukuku. It is said that Mulukuku is an indigenous name meaning “place (=mulu) of the peccary (=kuku).” (A peccary is a type of wild pig.) That’s why we named our company Mulukakao; it’s the place of cacao, or cocoa.

Founded by Noel Montoya, a Nicaraguan native, and Anjie Price, a former Peace Corps volunteer from Mississippi, Mulukakao was born out of a shared passion for chocolate-making and a commitment to supporting local communities.

WHAT WE DO?

We connect farmers to consumers through fair, direct, and transparent trade. Our mission is to create a meaningful experience for chocolate and coffee lovers by offering products that are not only delicious but also ethically sourced and sustainably produced.

From the fertile lands of Nicaragua to our factory, where raw cacao and coffee beans are transformed into high-quality products, every step in our process is designed to preserve the unique flavors of our ingredients. We work closely with smallholder farmers to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability.

We believe in making a positive impact on the world, one bar of chocolate and one cup of coffee at a time.
